REX ON The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal…………………
“The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday is a charity close to my heart and one that I have supported since 2001.
My very own fish and chip shop, Rex Hunt’s D’lish Fish, situated in beautiful Beacon Cove, Port Melbourne, has raised more than $20,000 over the past 7 years – not bad for a small family business!
To make Good Friday such a success I call on the help of my many friends in the AFL football world to come along and join in on what is truly a magnificent day.
The likes of such incredible talents as; Anthony Koutoufides, Brad Johnson, Jason McCartney, Gary Lyon, Glen Archer, Matthew Richardson, Ang Christou, Scott West and The Big Dipper.
They come along to meet the footy fans and give out Easter Eggs donated by my good mate David Grisold at the Chocolatier. The boys and their families enjoy the atmosphere (and the fish and chips) so much that they are always keen to come the following year (provided it doesn’t clash with their training schedules!).
Check out some of the photos below taken at the shop on Good Friday in years gone by.
You know folks; it doesn’t take much to make a difference. I’ve seen first hand what amazing work the people of the Royal Children’s Hospital do and without them some of our sick kids just wouldn’t make it. So what are you doing next year on Good Friday? I’d love to shake your hand and say thanks for your support. So come along and join in the fun, I look forward to meeting you!”
